On Android phones:

The Android Backup Service can store your data and be connected to one or more of your Google accounts. Here's how to set it up:

Connect your device to your Wi-Fi network.
Open your phone'sSettings.
Under Accounts and backup, tapBackup & Restore.
TapBack Up My Dataand switch it on.

You'll then see options for backing up your data, including passwords, preferences and app data, which will all be stored in your Google account.

On iPhones:

You can use iCloud to back up your device – discover how to set up iCloud.

Connect your device to your Wi-Fi network.
TapSettings.
Scroll down and tapiCloud.
Once in iCloud, scroll down to tapBackupand make sure that iCloud Backup is switched on.
TapBack Up Now.

Be sure to stay connected to your Wi-Fi network until the process completes. To make sure that the backup finished: TapSettings >iCloud >Storage>Manage Storage, then select your device. The backup should appear in the details with the time and backup size.

How to restore data from your old phone to your new phone

On Android:
