How To Know If Your Lcd Is Broken Iphone
The Difference Between a Cracked Screen & Broken LCD Screen
There is nothing worse than watching your smartphone fall, knowing that it will get cracked and there's nothing that you can do to stop it. A smartphone screen is made up of two thin layers: a glass screen, and a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screen. If you have a broken screen, it could either be a cracked glass screen or a broken LCD screen. These are different types of breaks, which require different methods of repair.
Cracked Screen
The glass screen is the outermost layer of your smartphone's display. While it is designed with durability in mind, it's still only glass, meaning that it is susceptible to scratches and cracking. You can have a broken screen, but a fully functioning LCD screen. Glass screens are easier and cheaper to fix than LCD screens.
Broken screens are easily identifiable. You'll notice spiderweb cracks and detached fragments that make it difficult to use your device. If you are able to still use your device, then you know that your issues are only with the glass screen, but if it is also unresponsive, your LCD screen might also be affected.
Broken LCD Screen
LCD screens are responsible for the display and the touch-response function of your smartphone.
These are the telltale signs of a broken LCD screen:
- A black screen
- Black spots or blurred areas on your screen
- New out-of-place lines or scratches on your screen
- Lack of touch sensitivity
What to do After Dropping Your Device
1. If you have a screen protector, the first thing you should do is to determine whether the damage is to the protector or your device.
2. If the damage is to your screen, don't try to fix it yourself or remove any broken glass yourself.
3. If you dropped your phone in water, turn it off, dry it off as much as you can, and then bury it in a container of rice.
Diagnosing Damage
The outer glass layer of your phone and the LCD screen work together to make your smartphone function, but they can also malfunction separately. When you bring your smartphone into Tech Genius, one of our qualified technicians will run a diagnostic to try to identify the problems before opening up your phone to check for internal damage. Once we have identified the problem, we will be able to determine the best course of action to remedy the issue and how much the repair will cost.
Whether you have a cracked screen or a broken LCD screen, Tech Genius is your one-stop-shop for all of your smartphone repair needs.
